Honda Racing
Honda Racing, under the management and ownership of Yarrive Konsky, has been a leading motocross, Supercross and Superbike team since its inception in 2008.
The team’s career highlight was winning the 2010 Australian Superbike Championship with Bryan Staring at the helm. Staring won half of the races contested and graduates to European Superstock racing this year.
The newly formed 2011 Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing Team is made up of four riders – Todd Waters, Cheyne Boyd, Michael Phillips and freestyle motocross rider Josh Sheehan.
Waters, from Atherton, Queensland, is going into his third year with the team. Since he began his racing career in 2002, Waters has secured five Australian titles, and, was a strong prospect for the 2010 MX Nationals championship before injury cut short his series lead. Waters will miss the opening rounds of the 2011 MX Nationals undergoing rehabilitation from injury.
Teammate Cheyne Boyd is a new recruit for the Honda outfit. The talented rider from Rosebud, Victoria is looking to win his first Australian Championship with the team in 2011. One of the most experienced competitors in the MX Nationals field, a focused and fit Boyd is already comfortable on his new Honda and will be tough to beat this year.
Michael Phillips returns to the team for the start of the season to fill in for Todd Waters. The New Zealand- based talent raced with the factory Honda outfit in 2010 and is looking to factor at the front of the field on the CRF 450 in the Pro Open class after campaigning an entry in the Lites class last year.
The team’s freestyle motocross rider, Josh Sheehan, is looking forward to the biggest year of his career yet with a number of national tours and international shows planned.
A rising star of the popular action sport discipline, Sheehan has been confirmed to compete at the European Night of the Jumps Series with a view to landing a place in the local Red Bull X-Fighters round later in the year.
