CEO and founder of Guvera, Claes Loberg will embark on the expansion journey of the media platform by re-locating to the United States in the coming weeks and appointing a familiar face to the Global Head of Content.
The 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year – Technlogy award recipient has hired former Virgin Music and Warner Bros. Records CEO and President Phil Quartararo to assist with the growth of Guvera’s game-changing media model.
Launching initially to provide free music downloads and streaming, Loberg’s vision extends to the inclusion of film and television and he believes Quartararo’s experience will be invaluable as Guvera continues to expand and evolve.
“Phil’s experience and contacts from over 30 years in the business will be an incredible asset to Guvera in its current growth phase,” said Loberg.
“His influence at the helm of companies including Virgin Music and Warner Bros. Records has shaped the industry as we know it.
“Effective promotion and marketing in the current competitive climate will ensure the message of Guvera and its benefit for listeners, artists and advertisers travels far and wide.
“Myself and my family’s re-location to the United States will allow me to work alongside clients in the region while still working closely with Phil and the rest of our teams in Australia, Asia and the United Kingdom.”
Quartararo was hand-picked by Richard Branson in 1986 to co-found Virgin Records America, one of the most successful start-ups in the history of the record business.
He was the driving force behind the monumental success of such names as Paula Abdul, the Spice Girls,Janet Jackson, the Smashing Pumpkins and Lenny Kravitz, before moving to Warner Bros. Records and signing Linkin Park and Josh Groban, to name a few.
His 2002 move to EMI music saw him successfully re-organise the company’s music distribution unit to coincide with a seismic shift in the industry which reversed a heavy focus from sales to marketing.
Quartararo shared Loberg’s vision for an entertainment marketplace in the ‘cloud’ and looked forward to his new appointment within Guvera.
Guvera.com recently surpassed 12 months of operation outside of its beta status and has over 200,000 registered users downloading and streaming its database of over 3 million free songs.
